In order to record the study, life and work of international students in China, tell the conflict, collision and integration between Chinese and foreign history, culture and customs, as well as show the exchanges between Chinese people and international students, share their experiences and stories in China, commissioned by the International Cooperation & Exchange Department of Ministry of Education, CSCSE has launched the essay competition of “My Beautiful Encounter with China” for international students” for four consecutive years, which has been warmly welcomed by the international students studying in China.
Commissioned by the Ministry of Education, the CSCSE organized the first essay competition of international student in 2017 and received a total of more than 160 essays from more than students of 20 universities, such as Peking University, Tsinghua University, Beijing Language and Culture University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Nanjing University of Science & Technology. After reviewing, the jury selected 46 outstanding essays. Award-winning foreign students wrote their stories, through their own perspective to see China”s development and changes in the past five years, and shared their feelings of studying in China.
In 2018, the second essay competition of international students focused on China”s 40 years of reform and opening-up, and received more than 800 contributions from 108 domestic universities, overseas education departments and individuals. After reviewing, the jury has selected 29 awarding articles (5 first prizes, 8 second prizes, 16 third prizes), 32 outstanding awards. The winning works are published in the collection book of My Beauty Encounter with China – 40 Years of Reform and Opening-up in the Eyes of International Students (both in Chinese and English).
